| This morning as it was just getting light outside, Jackson says "Mom, morning is waking up. So that means night is going to sleep." I replied, "Yes, night is almost asleep." Jackson reasoned, "So, he's probably just brushing his teeth right now then, huh?" | | |
| I can't believe its almost Christmas again! Audrey is nearly 2 months old. She is still gaining weight and weighed 8#12oz last week. She is my fussiest baby thus far, but she's starting to turn the corner. She will swing in the swing for a 20 minutes or so without too much fuss now. I hope this isn't her personality shining through. We certainly don't need two fussy women in this house! My firstborn turned 4 years old recently. I can't believe it! He is sweet and smart and funny. I made my first homeade birthday cakes this year. THey're supposed to be volcanoes with little dinosaurs on top. Noah is definitely 2! He is hilarious and very mischevious. He's so cute, its hard to discipline him sometimes. Matt will be taking 3 weeks off from work starting next week, so we will have some good family time around Christmas. Hope everyone's holidays are off to a good start! | | |
| She finally reached her birth weight of 7#11oz on her 4 week birthday!!! My very supportive mother actually said, "Do you think its possible she's a midgit??" Thanks, mom...

| Our little Audrey is just that- LITTLE! At her 2 week check up she only weighed 7#1oz, which was significantly less than her birth weight of 7#11oz. The doctor was quite concerned that she hadn't gained her birth weight back yet. I felt like a failure as a mother and guilty for starving my child!! Since I was already hormonal from the whole pregnancy/birth thing I sobbed and sobbed- totally unlike me, as you all know. =) She was so jaundiced for her first couple of weeks, which made her sleepy, which caused her to nurse for only a few minutes an fall back asleep again, so she wasn't getting any hindmilk. Her latch was also really poor and nursing was EXTREMELY painful for me for the first several days. You'd think by baby #3 things would go smoothly, but not the case. Anyway, I met with a lactation consultant and my routine for the past week has been nurse, pump, and supplement using the 'finger feeder' in order to bulk this little lady up. She is now up to 7# 9oz, so we're close to birth weight at 3 1/2 weeks old. I'm using the finger feeder in order to avoid introducing the bottle until her latch is well established. She has to work for the milk, like she would with nursing, so she won't give up on that like she potentially would if we supplemented with the bottle. | | |
| As many of you already know, we have a little girl in our house! Audrey Rose Bird was born October 14th at 12:51am. She weighed 7#11oz and was 19.5 inches long. Matt was in Seward when I realized I was in "true labor" and I'm so thankful he made it to Anchorage in time. I'll try to be better about posting pics of her as she grows. | | |
